The Room Key Encodes Personal Information

You’ll barely find a hotel that still uses traditional manual keys for their rooms. In the digital age, it’s all about electronic keys, or rather, cards.

This has led to the misconception that electronic cards are a threat to your personal data. Rumors regarding these cards encrypting guests’ credit card numbers and other sensitive information have made people rather skeptical about this form of technology. However, you don’t need to worry about identity theft through your hotel key. In fact, the card deactivates after your check out date and is of no use besides helping you lock your room on the days you’re in its possession.

Hotels Always Have an Extra Room Available

If you’ve been told that the rooms are all sold out, chances are, they actually are unavailable. Contrary to popular belief that there’s always a room or two ready for use for VIP guests, this is hardly the case.

Hotels want to accommodate as many guests as they can. They don’t turn away clients unless they have no other option, and that happens when all of their rooms are booked. Pestering the staff at the front desk or offering to bribe them won’t do you any good, and may as well get you blacklisted. To avoid this scenario, make a reservation well in advance!

Weekend Stays Always Cost More

Not true! While some hotels tend to have higher fares on weekends. This mostly depends on the types of clients they serve and the frequency of their visits.

For example, if a hotel routinely accommodates businessmen and hosts conferences and meetings, then they’re likely to have traffic throughout the week. Business meetings don’t just happen over the weekend, and are in fact a more common occurrence during weekdays. Thus, for a hotel used to catering corporate clients and guests, the weekdays are just as important as the weekend.

This means that you have just as good a chance of getting a room at the usual rate on a Saturday night as you would on a Tuesday evening, unless the hotel has a huge influx of guests on weekends.
